The Artist's "Muse" With Her Assistants

About The Artist
Sheila Wedegis has specialized in painting Labrador Retrievers for the past 11 years. Sharing a couch and bed with three Labs her love of these beautiful creatures had to be translated to the canvas. Sophie, Sheila's Muse, is the oldest. Sophie is affectionatley called "The Queen" and if you have a Lab you know why! Fergus, the only chocolate, is next and loves being the studio assistant along with the youngest Sammy. Their tails help to not only mix the paint but also to spread it on various canvas and door frames.
Sheila attended art school in Boston, Massachusetts studying Illustration and Design along with drawing. Oils came later and as Sheila will say, "the doing every day is the best teacher". While raising two children Sheila continued to paint and show her art work throughout the country. It is now collected not only in the US but in England, France, Germany, Australia and Spain.
Sheila also contributes and helps raise funds for several Lab Rescues around the country which can be seen on her blog.
Along with Sophie, Fergus and Sammy, Sheila also shares her life with her husband Roger and their cat, Blue, in Palm Bay, Florida.
Fergus went to the Rainbow Bridge September 6, 2011
We miss him terribly. Brain tumors hit fast. Since then we feed our Labs only grain free food. I don't know what caused it since he was the strongest and healthiest. Since then Fergus handpicked a chocolate boy, Ozzie, that we adopted as a pup fron Labs4Rescue.
Other news, I will be displaying some of my work at the Ormond Memorial Museum and Gardens in Ormond Beach, Fl. The dates are June 23 thru August 19, 2012
